Clouds (Fog ?) in The Buffalo River Valley... Morning View From The "Sitting Spot"
My friend Rick Chitwood and I named the place Big Elk Mountain around the campfire one night, after the first time I ever drove onto my property ... I guess that was about Jan. 1993 ? Going thru the woods we stumbled on a few elk ( one BIG bull ) and a few does ... before we had passed them there turned out to be about 23 ! Our first time ever seeing them. It was quite a thrill. Thru the years I learned that they frequented this property. That was all before I moved here.
I'm Steve Balliet, from Baton Rouge, La. I moved here in Dec. 1997 ... It's been real. God has helped me thru some significant difficulties. * I sure miss the fishing and food back home!
I hope you enjoy the pics, and maybe get a laugh or a smile... for those who've been wondering what I'm doing here, well, you can see my a little of my place and what I've been up to. You can find some surprises, if you look around ! Just me having fun with this new website making experience... You'll see that I went (temporarily?) crazy over the text scrollers and "banner flippers" !
I just like BIG pictures... I like to see the "little things" in a picture, like in life. (And my eyes are getting worse and worse !) I hope you'll be patient and that you'll enjoy the pics. There are a few pages that have thumbnails ... as much as I hated to do it ! : ) Thanks, Steve

Morning in a New Addition to the Top Front Yard ... ( Mount Judea area in background )

The picture below is a good representation of what I call the "evening slow down"... My favorite time. As the day winds down, me and the dogs and the goats just hanging out up at the top yard. That's why I'm here... for the "Be Still and Know that I Am God" times. : ) Once I told a fellow that there was nothing I liked better than just sitting and watching the goats eat ... I was talking about this "evening slow down time" in particular. He said 'Wow, it doesn't take much to make you happy, huh?'. Exactly ... When I'm lucky !

"Flipper" was a special pup... a Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog. He was 'swimming' since he was a little pup! I almost kept him from Lil' Sister's last litter. It was a kind of a problem litter, and I'd grown quite fond of him... But he went to a good home at my friends Joey & Libby Brasel's place. Here are LaBecca & Kassidy Brasel with Flipper at his new home. : ) Update 12/5/00: Joey says Flipper's gettin' BIG ! Update 2/2002: Flipper is very big, very beautiful, and "in charge" at the Brasel farm !
